Kepler-22b eshte egzoplaneti i pare qe teleskopi hapesinor Kepler, ka gjendur ne zonen e banueshme te yllit te tij. Ai besohet te jete nje vend premtues per te kerkuar per jete. Por, ne 600 vite-drite larg, kerkohet shqyrtim i metejshem i kesaj bote dhe duhet te kerkohen ndihme per teleskope akoma me te fuqishem.I zbuluar ne vitin 2011, planeti eshte vleresuar te jete 2.4 here me i madhe ne diameter se Toka, me nje temperature mesatare te siperfaqes prej 72 grade Fahrenheit (22 grade Celsius). NASA e njoftoi kete zbulim te planetit Kepler-22b, si pjese e nje grupimi prej 54 kandidateve per planet te konfirmuar ne ate kohe -2011. Te gjitha keto planete jane gjetur nga Kepler.Planeti eshte pak me e madhe se Toka, por ka nje orbite qe eshte shume e ngjashme (290 dite planeti kepler 22b dhe toka ka 365). Kepler-22b gjithashtu orbiton nje yll G-ku ben pjese edhe dielli, por ylli i Egzoplanet eshte pak me i vogel dhe i ftohte.
Kjo figure tregon krahasimin e orbitave te 4 planeteve te brendshem te sistemit tone diellor,me orbiten e kepler 22b.Zona jeshile,tregon pjesen e quajtur si zona e banueshme,ku ben pjese edhe kepler 22b.Ylli meme i kepler 22b eshte me pak i ndritshem si dielli yne.Koncepti:NASA,Ames,Caltch,JPL.

- A 2015 European Planetary Science Congress abstract looked at thevariability in energy produced by Kepler-22b’s host star, which would affect its habitability.
- A 2016 American Astronomical Society meeting abstract showed the results of simulating exomoons in the system, to see how habitable they could be. (The authors concluded that “systems of satellites also hold the potential of supporting life,” according to the abstract.)
- That said, a search for an exomoon around Kepler-22b (published in the Astrophysical Journal in 2013) found no evidence of any moon in that system.
